The Sporting crest features a rampant lion on green and white with the SCP initials. The lion — nickname and symbol — evokes courage and ambition since foundation. Green and white are the historic colours. The badge summarises Lisbon Leonine identity and more than a century among the Big Three, without conflating commercial mottos with the shield.
Sporting Clube de Portugal was founded on 1 July 1906 by José Alvalade and associates aiming to build a major Lisbon club. It is one of Portuguese football's Big Three, with multiple league titles, Portuguese Cups and regular European presence. The Alcochete academy became a world reference for youth development — Cristiano Ronaldo among many others. Home is Estádio José Alvalade. Green and white and the lion mark Leonine identity; the clássico with Benfica and rivalry with Porto structure the calendar. The club also sustains a multi-sport tradition beyond football.
