History
Fortaleza Esporte Clube, founded in 1918 in Fortaleza, enjoyed one of Ceará football's strongest twenty-first-century cycles, with Libertadores appearances, state titles and Série A regularity. Red, blue and white colours and Leão do Pici identity link the club to the capital. The Clássico-Rei with Ceará defines the local rivalry; Arena Castelão hosts supporters on big nights. Youth work and recent management keep Fortaleza on the Northeast and national map. Ceará identity and continental ambition continue to define the club's path in contemporary Brazilian football.
