History
FC Schalke 04, founded in 1904 in Gelsenkirchen and the Ruhr, is a national football reference and a marked continental presence. Known as Royal Blues, it collected historic German titles, DFB-Pokal and European finals. Rivalry with Borussia Dortmund (Revierderby) and a blue and white identity shape fans and narrative. Veltins-Arena, local support and Ruhr mining club and Veltins-Arena sustain the contemporary project. Youth work, management and competitive ambition define the current cycle against historic rivals. The sporting project balances a memory of triumphs with the demands of the modern elite.
