Crest meaning
The Athletic Club crest combines a red-and-white shield with elements of Bilbao’s arms and the rojiblanco tradition. The badge marks Bilbao and Basque identity — not a generic template — and the club’s continuity since the late nineteenth century. Colours and symbols are documented as club-specific marks, not filler.

History
Athletic Club, founded in 1898 in Bilbao, is one of La Liga’s historic clubs and famous for a policy of players developed in the Basque pathway or with Basque origin. Known as the Leones or Athletic Bilbao, it has won league titles and Copas del Rey and keeps rivalry with Real Sociedad in the Basque derby. Home is San Mamés. Red and white (rojiblancos) define the identity. The club summarises more than a century of Bilbao tradition and sporting identity tied to the Basque Country. The Basque pathway policy remains the defining institutional choice.
