História
Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas was founded in 1904 in Rio de Janeiro (later merger of football and rowing clubs) and is one of the Carioca big four, with Brazilian and state titles. Estádio Nilton Santos (Engenhão) is the contemporary home. Black and white and the Lone Star identify the Glorioso; rivalries with Flamengo, Fluminense and Vasco structure the calendar. Idol tradition, title cycles and General Severiano identity mark Botafogo history across more than a century. The club maintains a professional structure, player development and a regular calendar in the main competitions.
