History
Sport Club Rio Grande is one of those clubs that quietly keep the game alive in Brazil. The club dates back to 1908, a year that still anchors how older fans talk about its beginnings. In Campeonato Gaúcho they share the calendar with regional rivals and the occasional surprise cup run. When Sport Club Rio Grande play at Estádio municipal de Rio Grande, the stands hold roughly 8,000 — numbers that matter less than the noise the regulars make. That mix of place, patience and belonging is what makes Sport Club Rio Grande matter beyond the final score.
