Crest meaning
The crest of Philadelphia Atoms is the picture people know before they know the squad. Colours, lettering and the overall shape do the heavy lifting; nobody needs a lecture to feel what it stands for. Seen that way, the emblem of Philadelphia Atoms is simply the club from Philadelphia, United States, drawn small enough to fit on a chest.

History
If you follow the lower and mid tiers of United States, you will bump into Philadelphia Atoms soon enough. Going back to 1973, the side has seen the game change around it while keeping a local core. They move through the domestic pyramid as form and finances allow, like so many clubs of their size. Home games are tied to Veterans Stadium, a ground listed around 65,000 seats — big enough to roar, small enough to feel close. Strip away the big-club noise and sides like Philadelphia Atoms are why the sport still feels close to the ground.
