Crest meaning

The Leicester crest features a fox — the club nickname — on a blue shield with white detail. The fox links to local folklore and the Foxes brand; blue is the historic kit colour. The badge marks Leicester’s specific animal emblem and top-flight history, not generic city-identity filler.

History

Leicester City Football Club, founded in 1884 as Leicester Fosse and later renamed Leicester City, won the Premier League in 2015/16 in one of football’s great underdog stories, plus FA Cups and League Cups. Known as the Foxes, the club is based in Leicester and plays at the King Power Stadium, successor to Filbert Street. Blue kits and the fox identity define the club across Championship and Premier League cycles, with European nights after the title and a support that treats the fox as an unmistakable local emblem. The fox remains the unmistakable emblem of the club’s modern peak.
