L.D. Alajuelense, founded in 1919 in Alajuela, is a national football reference and a marked continental presence. Known as los Manudos / la Liga, it collected multiple Liga FPD titles and Concacaf crowns. Rivalry with Saprissa e Cartaginés and a black and red identity shape fans and narrative.
