History
FC Sheriff Tiraspol, founded in 1997 in Tiraspol, is a national football reference and a marked continental presence. Known as the Wasps / Sheriff, it collected more than twenty Super Liga / Divizia Națională titles and the 2021–22 UEFA Champions League group stage (first Moldovan side there; 2–1 at the Bernabéu vs Real Madrid, group with Inter and Shakhtar). Rivalry with Zimbru, Petrocub e Milsami and a yellow and black identity shape fans and narrative. Sheriff Arena, local support and Sheriff Arena (opened 2002) sustain the contemporary project. Youth work, management and competitive ambition define the current cycle against historic rivals.
