Crest meaning

El Sekka El Hadid means “the railway”. The crest and club colours (traditionally blue and white) come from Egypt’s railway workshops: early kits echoed staff uniforms, and later badges often weave in rail motifs, tracks or locomotive symbolism. The identity is industrial and institutional — Egypt’s oldest football club — not a neighbourhood nickname alone.

History

El Sekka El Hadid Sporting Club was founded in 1903 by British and Italian engineers working for Egypt’s Railway Authority, making it the oldest football club in Egypt and among the oldest in the Middle East. The team helped shape early Egyptian competition and was among the founders of the Egyptian Premier League in 1948–49. Legendary forward Hussein Hegazi is among its historic figures. After decades moving between the top flight and lower divisions, the club has most recently competed in Egypt’s Second Division A, keeping its railway heritage at the centre of Cairo football culture. Home games have been associated with El Sekka El Hadid Stadium / Railway facilities and other Cairo venues depending on the season.
