Crest meaning
Atlético de Madrid's crest joins red-and-white stripes with Madrid's bear and strawberry tree (madroño), plus the seven Community stars. The initials and shield shape reinforce colchonero identity. The badge points to the city and a fighting spirit — without attributing mottos that are not on the heraldic design.

History
Club Atlético de Madrid was founded in 1903, initially linked to Basque students in the capital, and grew into Madrid's other major club opposite Real Madrid. It has won multiple Spanish leagues, Copas del Rey and European titles, notably the Europa League and UEFA Super Cup in recent eras. The combative colchonero style, associated with coaches such as Diego Simeone, shapes collective identity. Home is the Metropolitano stadium (commercial name subject to sponsorship), after decades at the Vicente Calderón. The Madrid derby structures the calendar. Red-and-white vertical stripes define the classic colchonero kit.
