History
1. FC Union Berlin, founded in 1966 in Berlin (Köpenick), is the popular-identity club of former East Berlin. Rise to the Bundesliga, European campaigns and supporter culture (Eisern Union) marked the modern era. Red and white colours and the Eisern motto link the club to Köpenick. Stadion An der Alten Försterei hosts unique support; Berlin rivalries and top-flight cycles shape daily life. Youth work and community culture keep Union on the German and European football map. Local identity, player development and the bond with supporters continue to define the club's path in contemporary European football.
